My New Crown Review
So … for quite some time I have been wanting a full lace wig. And, admit it, if you're as into weave as I am, I am sure you have experienced hair lust too! But, let me tell you, my first experience buying a full lace wig online went horribly wrong! (It’s still painful, so bear with me as I wipe a tear from my eye … )
The wigs I ordered were so thin, I woulda still wanted a weave, the length was much shorter than expected and the cap fit so poor and loose! Then, to put the icing on the cake, the seller recommended I send them back to exchange them. Well when they got all the way back to China, Ms. Grace didn't want anything to do with me anymore. After much disputing and fighting, I got nowhere and lost hundreds of dollars. Can we say, pissed…?
Once I decided I was through fighting that battle, I did a fair amount of research before making my next purchase. I was searching high and low for the perfect wig, all while debating whether I should just settle on a lace frontal instead. But, I wanted the features and benefits of a FULL lace wig! I stumbled across a YouTube beauty guru (Alyssa Forever) on one of my late night web binges. I absolutely loved her hair and searched for more video reviews on WowAfrican hair. (I was surprised to find the site was called Wowafrican.com. Yes, Wow African! WTH)
Now...the name is pretty silly, especially since the hands creating your wig are certainly stationed in China. Nonetheless, my Interest peaked when I received an email for their spring sale offering savings of 20% off. Ya girl can't turn down a sale!
I quickly settled on the unit I wanted when I saw another YouTube guru (Raven Elyse) styling her Zendaya inspired curls [wig style CLW34]. I also knew right away that I wanted a custom cap so it fit my head like a glove - not to mention I got a big head to fit! So, there I was ordering the 16in, standard density of 120% (like Raven), with light brown colored lace and baby hairs.
Right after ordering on April 15th, I get a confirmation email from Amanda who tells me my purchase is non-refundable due to the customization and that it would be completed by May 27th. I knew to be patient but when May 30th rolled around and I had yet to receive an update, a tracking number or a BOO from this company, naturally, I thought I was dealing with another Ms. Grace taking my money! Luckily, I was smart enough to pay using PayPal. Oh, how I love PayPal.
I called Wow African customer service to clear up the tracking issue first, but with the language barrier I got nowhere. I gathered that she was going to email me a tracking number after our call ... but she didn't. I called PayPal with the quickness to dispute the charges. They were kind enough to open the dispute and promise me a refund if the seller did not resolve the issue. Needless to say, she shipped my wig, and quickly! It arrived to my house within 4 days.
I say all that to say, be mindful of online purchases and always find ways to protect yourself. Overall, I am pleased with my new unit! Aside from almost having to get a refund from PayPal, the hair is great quality for the price and I would happily purchase from them again.
